The Industry Impact

The TIM Wind project is expected to establish common information requirements for OEMs and standardized information packages and structuring, regardless of the organization. Administrative costs are anticipated to be significantly reduced for both OEMs and customers.

The full potential of TIM Wind will be realized when all major OEMs and customers in the wind sector adopt the guidelines developed in the project.

A Clear Direction for Technical Information

The Challenge

The wind sector adheres to a general set of existing standards for managing technical information, including the Machinery Directive, IEC 61355, and IEC/ISO 81346. However, information can be generated at various stages by different stakeholders, leading to inconsistent methods of creating and delivering the same information. This inconsistency creates communication uncertainties between OEMs (Original Equipment Manufacturers) and customers, resulting in significant time and resource expenditures on alignment and clarification.

The Solution

TIM Wind (Technical Information Management for the Wind Industry) aims to establish a clear and unambiguous interpretation of the existing standards relevant to the wind industry. The project will deliver concrete guidelines for the application of these standards, including how documentation should be structured, categorized, and coded. This will enable an efficient process and ensure consistent information quality for OEMs and customers.

What TIM Wind Delivers

TIM Wind provides a set of standardized guidelines tailored to the wind sector:

  • Guideline for "Document Kind Classification Codes" based on IEC 61355.

  • Guideline for "RDS for Wind Power" focused on WTG (Wind Turbine Generators), based on IEC/ISO 81346-10 and IEC/ISO 81346-12.

  • Guideline on content requirements for information exchange between OEMs and customers.

  • Guideline for data exchange between OEMs and customers.

  • Guideline for "RDS for Wind Power" focused on BoP (Balance of Plant), based on IEC/ISO 81346-10 and IEC/ISO 81346-12.
