RDS for BoP

The aim of this workstream is to develop a common Reference Designation System that simplifies system structuring, improves interoperability, and supports the digital transformation of renewable energy assets.

The Purpose

The manual introduces a unified Reference Designation System (RDS) based on ISO/IEC 81346 standards, enabling consistent structuring of renewable power plants. It supports interoperability across wind, solar, storage, and Balance of Plant systems, reducing complexity and lifecycle costs. Designed for flexibility, it accommodates hybrid solutions and future technologies like Power-to-X. The guideline ensures clear system modelling for efficient design, operation, and digital integration
